Why Morbid Anatomy? I have always maintained a passion for sociology while embracing the unusual – the step to creating delightfully creepy, aesthetically pleasing shadowboxes was therefore most natural. Morbid Anatomy was born out of a need to explore human nature against a backdrop of medicine, science and discovery.
My assemblage art is a commentary on both the world around me and of that which exists in the themes I study. In each piece, the mementos of daily life are gently reinterpreted as visions of our collective past, giving new voices to forgotten artifacts. My continuous process involves an examination of the beauty against that which is often regarded as the macabre.
The tools of my trade include bones, antique medical illustrations, rusty nails, apothecary, and curious objects that come into my possession. In the past two years, my work has expanded in theme and in execution of the pieces themselves. You may keep up with my events and a gallery can be found on my website at: [link]
